Coca-market Cola's value plummets by $4 billion as a result of Cristiano Ronaldo's actions; the corporation responds.





A simple gesture by star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo at a pre-match press conference — ahead of Portugal's Euro 2020 encounter against Hungary — has slashed Coca-market Cola's value significantly.

Ronaldo threw aside a handful of Coke bottles that were placed in front of him at the pre-match press conference. The 36-year-old then shifted the bottles out of the picture before displaying a water bottle in front of the assembled press.

Ronaldo also stated “agua” — which means water in Portuguese — after holding up the bottle of water as a show of endorsement. His gesture soon went viral on various social media platforms and was shared widely across the globe.

Coca-Cola, one of the official sponsors of Euro 2020, had its market value plummet by $4 billion just hours afterwards.

Following the footballer's gesture, Coca-stock Cola's price fell 1.6 percent, from $56.10 to $55.22. The popular beverage brand's market worth dropped $4 billion, from $242 billion to $238 billion.

“Players are served water, along with Coca-Cola and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, on arrival at our press conferences,” Coca-Cola stated in a statement.

Coca-Cola went on to say that "everyone has varied likes and needs" and that "everyone is entitled to their drink choices."

It's no secret that Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the best footballers of all time, adheres to a strict diet and avoids sugary beverages. On any given day, the Portuguese captain can give younger players a run for their money, despite the fact that he is 36 years old.
