WTC Final: India has performed admirably on international trips and should defeat New Zealand, according to Yuvraj Singh.
Yuvraj Singh, a former all-rounder, believes India should win New Zealand in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final because Virat Kohli's team has done admirably on international trips.
India won the WTC rankings with 72.2 PCT after accumulating 520 points to qualify for the finals, while New Zealand came in second with 70 PCT and 420 points, edging out England, who had more points (442) but a lower PCT (61.4).
"I think it's a great concept to push Test cricket to the next level; I believe India is quite capable, as seen by their outstanding performances on international tours, including two victories in Australia. I believe India believes they can win anyplace, but the conditions in England are different. I am confident that India will defeat New Zealand "On eSalaamCricket, Yuvraj Singh told Aaj Tak.
The one-off encounter in the Rose Bowl marks the end of the WTC's two-year cycle, which began in 2019 with the goal of creating test cricket's own apex event. The International Cricket Council (ICC) intended the championship to bring relevance and significance to test cricket, and Kane Williamson, the New Zealand captain, felt it was a success.
New Zealand is preparing for the WTC Final with a two-Test series against England, which began on June 2. From June 10 to 14, they will play another match in Birmingham before facing Virat Kohli's India in Southampton on June 18.
Yuvi, who retired from cricket in 2019, said that while India's batting is better than their opponents', it will be difficult for them to get back into Test mentality after not playing the longest format for over three months.
