Moves to restart travel between the United States and the United Kingdom have been dismissed by the industry.
As part of a "Atlantic Charter" scheduled to be signed on Thursday, a new committee will be established to offer recommendations on relaxing limitations.
The prime minister and the president would "seek to relaunch UK-US travel as soon as feasible," according to a statement from Number 10.
The announcement, however, "falls short," according to Virgin Atlantic's CEO.
"The launch of the Atlantic Taskforce is a good recognition of the importance of the UK-US travel corridor and a first step toward reopening the skies," said CEO Shai Weiss.
However, he claimed that the lack of a defined timeline for resuming travel left airlines, businesses, and customers in the dark.
Mr. Weiss encouraged Mr. Biden and Mr. Johnson to enable trans-Atlantic travel by July 4th, ahead of the opening of the G7 summit in Cornwall.
