Why is it no longer fashionable in China to be a crazy wealthy Asian?

Is 650 yuan ($101, £72) enough for a day's worth of food?

Not in the opinion of Su Mang, the former editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar China, whose remarks about it on a reality TV show angered Chinese social media.
"I can't eat with such poor standards," she said on the show 50km Taohuawu, which features 15 celebrities living together for 21 days.

Netizens were outraged by her remarks, pointing out that their daily food ration is frequently less than 30 yuan.
The public was not convinced, even though Ms Su, dubbed "China's Devil Wears Prada," later emphasized that it was all a "misunderstanding" and that the 650 yuan was for her entire time on the show.

"She can try to justify it, but the truth is that celebrities are elitist without realizing it," one user remarked on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging platform.
Hers is only the latest example of public outrage directed at a celebrity because of their wealth.

Annabel Yao, the younger daughter of Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei, enraged the internet earlier this year when she claimed she had lived a life of suffering.
"I've never thought of myself as a 'princess'... I believe I was like most people my age in that I had to work hard and study hard to get into a good school "she announced her singing profession in a glamorous 17-minute video documentary.

Since a battle in 1962, most of the estimated 3,440-kilometer border has been unclear, with both countries' interpretations of their line differing. According to Indian media, the conflict erupted after Chinese forces erected tents, built trenches, and transferred heavy equipment several kilometers into what India considered its territory. The Indian army, caught off guard by China's surprise maneuver, res...
